Event Description
The Water Africa 2009 Exhibition, to be held in Accra on 18-20 March 2009, marks a return to Ghana by the popular water and wastewater show after an absence of three years. It will be accompanied by the West Africa Building & Construction 2009 Exhibition, a show also held in Accra in January 2006.
In November 2006, Water Africa travelled to Lagos, Nigeria and was so well received by the water sector and exhibitors, it returned there again in November 2007.
Water Africa 2009 offers an opportunity for companies to put their products and services before purchasers from central and local government, industry, agriculture, NGOs and other key players from the entire West Africa region.
West Africa Building & Construction 2009 aims to help those providing civil engineering and housing projects in West Africa to see new materials and machinery for use in construction and talk to experts on how best to use them. Visitors will find new ideas to enable them to beat the competition.
The UK organisers of the events, ACE Event Management, say that a large amount of space in the Accra International Conference Centre has already been booked, and Managing Director Tracey Nolan-Shaw anticipates a large response to the company’s first exhibitions in Ghana since 2006. There will also be day-long seminar programmes alongside the exhibitions at which public works officials, contractors and consultants will be able to hear from many of the international participants in the events.
Many of the exhibitors at these exhibitions will be new to the West African market and will be looking for local partners to help them sell and distribute their products and services here. There is great potential for business to be done at both shows.
These two events are Africa’s best annual infrastructure trade shows, and everyone involved in developing the country’s infrastructure, whether in central or local government, industry or non-governmental organisations should do their best to visit them. The events are supported by the Ministry of Water Resources, Works & Housing.

Further Information
Seminar Programme
Exhibitors at Water Africa 2009 and West Africa Building & Construction 2009 will be able to take part in the accompanying seminar programme, which will be run in co-ordination with the Ministry of Works & Housing. Places in the seminar programme will be limited and priority will be given to registered exhibitors. The programme will provide an ideal opportunity for exhibitors to get to know the problems and needs of the water and construction sectors in West Africa, and to provide information on their products and services.
Fifth Time in Ghana
Water Africa was first held in 1993 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since that time it has visited Ghana (four times), Tanzania (three times), Nigeria (twice), Uganda (twice), Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique and Egypt. It is well supported by exhibitors from all over the world. Products on show will include pipes, pumps, tanks, monitoring equipment, laboratory kits, well drilling and lining equipment, treatment plants and consulting services.
West Africa Building & Construction was launched in Accra in 2000, and regional variations of this show have since been held in Nigeria (twice), Tanzania (twice), Uganda and Mozambique. Exhibitors will be showing the latest equipment and services in the fields of domestic and industrial building and general infrastructure construction.
This a key time in Ghana’s development, and ACE Event Management is pleased to be able to bring its water and construction events back to Accra.
